We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Private Sector Housing Officer (Grants) working at a Leading Local Authority in Greater Manchester. This is a full-time role for the next 3 months.
Your role will be to assess enquiries and applications for Disabled Facilities Grants, including visiting properties to assess whether works are reasonable and practicable as well as the general condition of the property. Calculation of grant amounts and re-approvals is fundamental to this job, as is answering queries from the public, housing associations, the home improvement agency, social care staff etc
You may be asked to assist with other areas of the team's work (enforcement of housing standards) but this is unlikely unless there is an unforeseen demand in that area.
To carry out all aspects of work relating to housing renewals assistance, including Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs) and other grants, loans and equity release products offered by the Council and to give advice to prospective applicants for such assistance in accordance with legislative requirements, Council policy and relevant Mortgage Sales Guidance and Consumer Credit Act legislation
To carry out comprehensive property surveys and prepare detailed schedules for such assistance in accordance with relevant Building Regulations, Decent Homes Standard, HHSRS, Lifetime Homes Standard, HMO standards and statements of need prepared by the Council s Occupational Therapy Service, as appropriate.
To determine grant / loan eligibility and process applications in respect of DFGs and other grants and loans offered by the Council. This will include scrutiny of any plans, estimates and documentation associated with the formal application and the calculation of assistance in accordance with legislative and policy requirements.
Undertake Health Impact Assessments of conditions contributing to health-related inequality.
To inspect and supervise works in progress, in conjunction with the Council s inspecting officer, when requested.
Liaise with the Council s nominated home improvement agency and other partners involving schemes for individual clients and general housing initiatives relating to health and wellbeing.
Assist with the implementation and operation of policies and strategies made under the provisions of the Regulatory Reform Order and other housing related legislation.
- Must have previous Senior Private Sector Housing Officer (Grants) experience
- Valid Basic DBS is required
- HHSRS / CIEH Qualified or equivalent
- Full UK Driving Licence, and access to a vehicle
- Excellent IT Skills, for logging any information on the Internal systems.
