Senior Credit Underwriter - Private Wealth Custom Lending

Job Description:

Perform all underwriting tasks for commercial loan requests to high net worth clients of Global Wealth and Investment Management, which includes Bank of Americas Private Bank and Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.

The position includes structuring advice to client teams and credit partners, completion of customized credit approval packages, and management of the documentation process. This role interfaces with client teams, credit executives, risk, servicing and legal partners to support the timely delivery of the credit process to market partners and clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze commercial risks and identify mitigants
  • Recommend risk ratings, exposure strategies, and credit structures, including reporting requirements and covenants
  • Underwrite and obtain credit approval for various commercial loan products (yacht, commercial real estate, fine art, hedge funds, and unsecured)
  • Partner with a Global Wealth and Investment Management client team division or market to support credit requests, which may involve upfront deal discussions
  • Manage pipeline and deal flow
  • Negotiate loan structure and covenants during documentation process, according to creditworthiness, collateral and risk appetite
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in business administration, finance, accounting or economics preferred
  • Strong financial analysis, accounting skills, and deal structuring for borrowers with complex balance sheets and income streams
  • 3-5+ years of commercial/private wealth management credit experience
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build business partnerships with risk, services and client teams who may not be co-located
Desired Skills:
  • Formal Credit Training and/or Commercial/Wealth Management credit experience preferred
T his role can be filled at the Band 4 or Band 5 level depending on experience at the discretion of the hiring manager.
