Our client are looking for someone who has previous venue management experience and is passionate about supporting the team to make sure their events run smoothly. Someone who is very hands on, willing to set up venues and get stuck in whenever necessary. Detail orientated, highly organised and great at thinking on their feet.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Community Venues and Events Manager, the Events Operations and Venues Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day venue management of all Events-run venues, supporting overall event management and managing part of the Venues Team.

Team Management

  • Line management of the Casual Events Assistants, Security, Caretakers and Cleaners
  • Ensuring sufficient staffing levels for all booked events and that all staff are correctly inducted to carry out their roles and responsibilities
  • Recruitment and training of new Events casual staff

Venue Management and Bookings

  • Day to day management of all the Events-run venues and ensuring all spaces are fit for purpose in conjunction with the facilities team
  • Supporting the Events Team when needed with: checking availability of venues, client site visits, briefing clients on Terms & Conditions for hire and licences, quoting for hire, contracting clients, and supporting clients making event applications
  • Attending technical or production meetings and participating in Safety Advisory Group meetings
  • Ensuring all application paperwork per event is complete and compliant with the requirements of the Event Policy
  • Inspecting venues before occupation and again on completion of the event
  • Attending events to ensure sufficient staffing is in attendance
  • Ensuring maximum utilisation of spaces in line with Enable's Strategy and the Events' Service Plan
  • Coordinating any contractors for building damages and maintenance
  • Attending quarterly auditing meetings with the Council
  • Purchasing of new and replacement equipment
  • Managing contracts and payment of venue contractors
  • Managing and applying for venue licences, PPL and PRS
  • Liaising closely with the Events Team and other Enable services to ensure that the wider events / activity programme is coordinated properly

Event Production

  • Supporting the Head of Events and Production Team with the delivery of events produced by Enable
  • Assisting with the physical set up and dismantling of events, including the management of contractors and suppliers and the distribution and return of events equipment / stores and vehicles as required
  • Delivering full event management of adhoc events as required

Project and Administrative Work

  • Researching competitor venues
  • Identifying new venue opportunities
  • Applying for premises licences to increase the number of saleable venues
  • Ensuring all venues are appropriately marketed to maximise sales with marketing team
  • Handling all customer complaints and resolving within the agreed timeframes
  • Managing a rota system for casual staff
  • Ensuring all timesheets for casual staff are accurate and processed on time
  • Updating the Events diary with venue bookings and keeping the budget up-to-date with all recorded income and expenses
  • Carrying out other duties/ projects as directed by the Head of Events


  • Achieving targeted income set in conjunction with Head of Events
  • Monthly reconciliation of the Detailed Transaction Report
  • Creating client invoices and liaising directly with the Finance Team as required. Following up unpaid invoices to ensure that all monies owing are paid
  • Seeking quotes for goods and services in line with Enable's Procurement Code, and raising purchase orders as required

The Candidate

Skills and experience

  • Previous venue management experience
  • Previous line management experience
  • Demonstrable experience of writing Standard and Emergency Operating Procedures
  • Competence using a range of office software, including outlook, excel and databases
  • Excellent written skills with a high level of confidence speaking to people on the phone
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks/projects against tight deadlines
  • Friendly and competent at building rapport with a positive, can-do, go-getter attitude
  • Ability to work autonomously under the direction from senior team members
  • Confident driver with clean driving licence
  • Able to work flexible hours including weekends, early mornings and late nights
