West Power Energy (WPE) is a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm, with a primary specialization in power generation, transmission, and distribution. West Power Energy strives to provide engineering services to public and private utility companies, consultants, and contractors taking part in the design and construction of power generation facilities, transmission lines, and substations, across the United States and Canada. We offer solutions from feasibility studies, full engineering design services to close out, and preparation of as-built recordings.


West Power Energy is looking for a student to join our team in the greater Los Angeles area in Arcadia as an Engineering Operations Intern. This position will report directly to the Vice President of U.S. Operations and an in-office position. The successful candidate will be part of our Early Talent Program (ETP). At WPE, our ETP exposes students to office operations and the architecture, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry. This internship is a part-time position for the Fall of 2022 duration and may continue if mutually agreeable. Dates and hours may vary. Specific areas of responsibilities are provided below.


Job Description

  • Assist the assigned office(s) with various tasks, including research to responses to questions
  • Learn one or more software program specific to our companies' field of work
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data
  • Perform miscellaneous administrative duties and routine activities within Finance, Human Resources, and Information Technology
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers
  • Assist with community outreach and company event initiatives
  • Gain industry and organizational knowledge through daily business interactions and job assignments
  • Develop business and analytical skills
  • Work within a fast-paced company, meeting passionate colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • Grow and develop your career at WPE
  • All other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • High school diploma and in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • A minimum of a 3.0 GPA is strongly preferred
  • Actively involved in campus, community, or other volunteer activities or organizations is preferred
  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and eager learner
  • Takes initiative and personal commitment to work on multiple projects and details concurrently, follow up, and bring tasks and projects to full completion
  • Ability to exercise discretion with confidential and sensitive matters
  • Prior internship experience is a plus
  • Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar program experience is a plus
  • Minimal travel may be required
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status
  • Candidate must complete a background check and possess a valid driver's license
  • Wage range: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour, depending upon individuals experience and qualifications
