About the Job
The Assistant General Counsel works closely with Finance, HR, Clinical Operations, and other internal stakeholders to provide thorough and thoughtful legal research and recommendations on a broad variety of legal issues.
Drafting and updating contract templates, such as confidentiality agreements, employment agreements and related documents, vendor and other third-party agreements.
Negotiation of company contracts, including property leases, third-party payer agreements, business-to-business (B2B) agreements and vendor agreements.
Researching legal and administrative requests from various departments to ensure compliance with state, federal, and local law.
Assisting with ethics and compliance programs, including the drafting and updating of corporate policies and SOPs.
Advising Thriveworks' business units regarding legal updates, best practices, and risk mitigation.
Supporting litigation issues and working with external counsel.
Supporting Thriveworks in its franchise offering, including annual state registrations, negotiation of new and renewal franchise agreements, and management of franchisee non-compliance.
Law degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar and in good standing in at least one jurisdiction in the United States.
2-3 years of work experience in a law firm or in-house counsel.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects, independently and collaboratively, while working under deadlines.
Ability to respond quickly and accurately to requests/inquiries from all levels of management and departments within Thriveworks.
Ability to develop creative, business friendly solutions to solve challenging issues in strategic deals, and to develop credibility and confidence as a trusted advisor.
Excellent communication skills, with a good sense of humor.
Thrive in a remote-only work environment.
Experience in the healthcare industry and associated regulations (e.g. HIPAA) would be helpful, but not required.
Litigation experience is a plus, as well as familiarity with insurance and organizational risk management.
